KARDIOLITA Ltd. operates as Vilnius Heart Surgery Center, the first and largest private hospital in the Baltics established in 1998 by personal initiative of renowned heart surgeons - professor Vytautas Sirvydis, the President of World Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons of 2005-2006 and professor Giedrius Uzdavinys.
Our lead surgeons Professors V. Sirvydas and G. Uzdavinys each performs between 200 and 400 open heart surgeries (including heart transplantations) per year; both at Kardiolita and at the University hospital were they also lead scientific work.
Hip and knee replacement surgeries are performed by Professor Narunas Porvaneckas who does approximately 400 operations per year.
During nearly ten years of operations Kardiolita’s surgical center has one of the highest survival rates in Europe for coronary artery bypass graft operations (98-99%). Furthermore, the staff is trained to treat high risk patients (80% of our patients are attributed to the 3th-4th functional group according to NYHA; 120 - 200 open heart surgeries are being performed each year in Kardiolita. Cases of MRSA are non-existent and a special attention to secondary infection prevention is paid - operating theatres and wards are spotlessly clean.
