For me, the weekend we spent in Lithuania was fantastic, the service was excellent in every sense and we were treated like VIP`s. The dentist we visited was very nice and we received some expert (painless) treatment.Mrs. C. Voss, England, September 2007
We so enjoyed our visit with you, the comfortable hotel and the beautiful grounds. We felt that the dental work and the other personal services we experienced were caring and superb. Lithuania is the place to visit, it has all the atmosphere of thriving metropolis yet has the peaceful quietness of unspoilt countryside it is as England once used to be.

"I was very upset after being rejected by the UK NHS doctor on doing an allergy test and refused to offer any advice on where I can get one done. I turned to Baltic MedTour. It was a very last minute arrangement and request and I was so surprised when they got me the appointment the next day.
I was picked up and taken to the Clinic on the day of appointment. Even though it is a simple procedure but my whole experience was so wonderful. I had a translator with me the whole time. The Clinic was so clean, modern and of high standard.
I couldn`t stop talking about it once I arrived back to UK. I was very impressed when my consultant at Baltic MedTour called me in a few days to inform me that a copy of a formally translated doctor`s report is on its way.
It is a service I highly recommend to anyone who is not happy with the medical service in UK. Baltic MedTour offers personal and professional service. On top of that Lithuania is a beautiful country to visit."

Having waited several months with my doctor managing consultations with specialists only to be told due to my weight I would need to loose 3 stone. But if you can not walk-job-run due to the osteoarthritis how can you loose weight? Being at the end of my patience with pain I consulted my doctor again to be told that yes, the same specialist could carry out the operation privately. (What has happened with the 3 stone weight loss?) Money talks! 4 years ago I privately had a full hip replacement operation done in Kent; the operation went ok. But no after operation care was given, 8 weeks on crutches and 4 weeks on one stick.
Already here due to the aftercare (3weeks) I can manage with one crutch. My impressions of my treatment, well, it is so much cleaner, more nurse – patient involvement than back in the UK. The operation was performed with a spinal anaesthesia. Everything went superb. I was out of bed exercising the following day. All the staff again very courteous and friendly, most if not all could speak English. 8 days later I was transferred back to the spa to start my rehabilitation again every day getting stronger. With all consultations the doctors took their time to explain everything, where back in the UK it always seems “who is next”.
The before, during and after surgery care I received was just brilliant. Would I recommend them to others – I certainly would. I have osteoarthritis in both my left knee and hip as well. But due to the exercises I have been shown it will certainly hold of next surgery for the near future. But when I do have to have surgery you will receive my call.

I am writing this for the benefit of potential patients who might be contemplating traveling to Lithuania for an operation. I have recently returned having had a hip replacement operation at the Baltic American Clinic followed by a period in the Medical Rehabilitation Centre. This is my personal experience touching on factors of which I was apprehensive before departure and the subsequent treatment I received. My choice was a consequence of the long delay that I experienced in the NHS.
I was picked up by taxi from my house by Liuda and taken to Gatwick airport for an early morning flight to Vilnius. Liuda had previously purchased the flight tickets and took me straight to the head of the queue at the departure desk and then to the departure lounge using the electric passenger trolleys, which eliminated the long walk to the departure gate.We arrived in Vilnius where I was introduced to the surgeon consultant and was taken to the Diagnostic Centre where x-rays were taken of my hip. I returned to the Clinic where the surgeon assured me that having seen the x-rays there would be no problem with the operation which was scheduled for the following day.I should mention the operation itself since this was something I had been apprehensive about. I was given epidural injections and remember little else until an anaesthetist told me that they were roughly half way through the operation and did I want a total anaesthetic. As I had experienced no pain whatever I opted to stay as I was. Two hours later I was able to speak to my wife in England on the phone. For the next five days I rested in my private room in the Baltic American Clinic without pain and attended by charming nurses who attended to all my needs and I was visited by the surgeon to check that everything was well and to reassure me that all the tests carried out were fine. I was then transferred to a rehabilitation unit on the outskirts of Vilnius. The treatment here was superb, consisting of physiotherapy and massage, gentle exercising in the exercise hall, often lying down and finally exercise in the spa pool in warm high buoyancy salt water. My legs were bound every day to counter the possibility of thrombosis and I received pills and injections to ward off any adverse possibilities. I also had daily blood pressure checks and occasionally gave a blood sample for testing. I was able to walk to the canteen for meals and also I could walk in the grounds. My room had a TV so I was able to watch the progress of the World Cup Football. One thing that impressed me was the length to which they go to ensure cleanliness in the Centre itself. All rooms and corridors are cleaned each day by a team of cleaners using special disinfection equipment and mops. The incidence of MRSA is zero.
I could not fault the medical care and the interest shown by the doctor in charge of the Rehabilitation Centre who came to see me every day. Neither could I over-state the attention afforded me by Liuda Mituziene, International Services Manager, who visited me at least every other day to make sure if I needed anything which she could get for me. On the way back home I was accompanied on the aircraft to Gatwick where I was met by the same taxi driver as in the outward journey, who took me home. I cannot fault the medical care and professionalism of both the renowned Baltic American Clinic and the Rehabilitation Centre.Including the six days in the Baltic American Clinic, 19 days in the Rehabilitation unit and travelling the whole visit took twenty-six days. I feel that I have got a superb personal service.

I have been travelling regularly now for 5 years to Vilnius. I was appointed a Director of the Vilnius Music Festival in 2000 and continue to visit Vilnius each month. I was also appointed a member of the Board of Directors of the British Chamber of Commerce in Vilnius. I love Lithuania and have tremendous admiration for its great cultural heritage and its economic progress. The treatment and care I received at the hospital there was absolutely first class. It is one of the finest medical centres in the world and I experienced similar care on two other occasions when I needed to visit the BAC. I have never on any occasion received better medical care any where in the UK during the last 30 years. Several of my friends and colleagues from the UK and America who have had reason to visit the Baltic American Clinic totally share my view about this excellent hospital and medical centre.
I recommend all my friends to health care in Lithuania and I remain a huge supporter of the Baltic-American Clinic. It is a great place!
With best wishes, JOHN BURROWS OBE Hon RCM
